Surge Protection Seminar: May 17th - 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
The increasing integration of electronic circuits onto smaller packages has led to an
increased sensitivity to transient voltage conditions. Power surges are short duration voltage
and current spikes that occur continuously in the electrical environment. The source of these
electro-magnetic phenomena can be natural or man-made. While lightning is the most dramatic and
physically damaging source, other normal utility and electrical activity are also leading causes,
such as load switching, motor drives, contactors and capacitor bank switching.
With over 2,000
different surge protection part numbers, Phoenix Contact can provide solutions for virtually
any application. From power line to data line, TRABTECH (Transient Absorption Technology) products
protect some of the world's most sensitive and mission-critical applications.

systems. Phoenix Contact wireless products utilize spread-spectrum
frequency-hopping techniques which guarantee a secure, interference free
link between remote devices and the control room. Typical in-plant
transmission ranges are 600 - 1,000 feet with no line of sight!
This seminar will cover the performance
characteristics of spread-spectrum technology, including it's ability to
tolerate heavy industrial interference!
